StapStep and Vodafone Ziggo are entering into a partnership!

The pace of innovation is high and developments are flying around you. The tumult of our times requires new ways of thinking, new techniques and new combinations. StapStep and VodafoneZiggo is such a new combination.

We are proud to announce that we recently entered into a partnership with VodafoneZiggo. You can spot the VodafoneZiggo technicians on a StapStep in several major cities.

Ziggo technicians walk the last kilometers on the electric StapStep for maintenance in the city. The company announced today that it is starting a pilot. This makes VodafoneZiggo the first Dutch telecom organization to opt for the electric scooter as sustainable transport.

Mechanics will use the StapStep in combination with their delivery van. There will be a charging point in the bus so that the technician can easily charge the scooter at night. VodafoneZiggo is starting the pilot in five cities: Amsterdam, Utrecht, Apeldoorn, Lelystad and Maastricht.

From your own pocket
The idea to cover the last kilometers with this new means of transport came from the mechanics themselves. By parking their bus outside the city and scootering the last bit, they save time and experience fewer parking worries. Daniel Hamersma, mechanic at Ziggo and participant in the pilot, was immediately enthusiastic: "It is good for the environment, and it also saves me a lot of time. I often spend longer in the city looking for a parking space than solving malfunctions. And now I get fresh air on my scooter too.”

Sustainable alternative
The electric scooters are a sustainable solution. The e-step provides a CO2 reduction of 99.3% for every kilometer traveled compared to the diesel bus. This means that customers in so-called zero-emission zones remain accessible. Zero-emission zones are areas in the city where no vehicles with CO2 emissions are allowed to enter from 1 January 2025.

Green look ahead
The pilot fits perfectly in VodafoneZiggo's ambition to halve the company's environmental impact before 2025. To achieve this goal, the organization is looking ahead with a green eye. Laura van Gestel, director of Corporate Social Responsibility at VodafoneZiggo, is constantly looking for ways to make VodafoneZiggo's transport more efficient and environmentally friendly: “The StapStep is a good addition to our existing 'green transport range' for mechanics. For example, there is already the e-bike, sustainable cargo bike, covered e-scooter and now the e-step is added. This brings us one step closer to our ambition to make as many customer visits as possible 100 percent environmentally friendly.”

Urban transport

The StapStep is a step with 'step support' and is therefore the only e-step in the Netherlands allowed on public roads. The StapStep supports, as long as you step yourself every eight seconds. The maximum speed of the scooter is 25 kilometers per hour. In the event of a successful trial, VodafoneZiggo will deploy e-scooters in more urban areas.
